The 2019 Spring AHS Special Lecture Series will be held at UNIST on Thursday, April 4.

The lecture, entitled “The Cyberpolitics of White Supremacy” will be presented by Professor David Oh from Ramapo College of New Jersey.

This lecture explores the ways the internet has been used as a platform for white supremacist rhetoric and community. It discusses the ways white supremacist discourse has moved from the shadows of the internet and “laundered” into more acceptable spaces. During the wide-ranging discussion, we will discuss what white supremacy is, its colonial roots, the internet as a fertile space for white supremacy, the limited challenges of “postracism,” and the movement of white supremacy into South Korea, e.g., OINK (ONLY IN KOREA), Dave’s ESL Café, Eat Your Kimchi Vlogs, and even the fan wars between global and Korean fans.
