UNIST announced that two of its faculty members, affiliated with the UNIST Center for Smart Mobility have been honored with prestigious awards from the Korean government for their contributions to solving tomorrow's mobility challenges.

On May 12, Ulsan Metropolitan City held a ceremony to mark the 15th Ulsan Motor Day. During the event, awards and commendations were delivered to 14 meritorious individuals who worked hard to accelerated the automobile industry, including Professor Hungsun Son (Department of Mechanical Engineering) and Professor Hui Sung Lee (Department of Design, UNIST).

Professor Son received a commendation from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) in recognition of his contribution to the establishment of the UNIST Center for Smart Mobility, as well as his R&D efforts towards future mobility technologies, such as Personal Air Vehicle (PAV).

Professor Lee has been presented with the Ulsan Metropolitan City Mayor's commendation for his R&D efforts towards future mobility and promoting various industry-academic cooperation projects.

Meanwhile, UNIST has opened the UNIST Center for Smart Mobility in May 2020 to accelerate their efforts to lay the groundwork for leading the future automotive industry. The center is in charge of various research in the field of future mobility, such as Design, Materials, Battery, Components/Modules, Automated Driving, Personal Air Vehicles (PAVs), System Integration, and Mobility-as -a-Service (MaaS).
